The InFocus ScreenPlay 8602 combines rich styling, stunning imagery, full features, and connectivity into an award-winning HD home cinema projector that creates a truly immersive cinema experience. It features DLP DarkChip technology with cutting edge InFocus BrilliantColor implementation and native 1080p resolution. The 8602 offers 30,000:1 contrast ratio, high-performance optics, and the latest in high-definition connectivity to display high-resolution images and video content in vivid colors with outstanding depth and detail. With the InFocus 8602, you will never miss a thing.
Let me state no single projector is perfect. There will be a give and take with any unit you purchase. The SP8602 is not without its flaws. I believe the engineers could have put more effort into designing a better cable management area. The one used is a good idea, but it lacks stability. The plastic clips are flimsy and will break easy if you're not careful. Also the DI action could have been better. If your unit has the old firm ware you'll need to upgrade it to one of the newer V7x versions in order to get better iris action. It still won't be as smooth as some, but it will be better and less aggressive.OK now for the good stuff! I've been looking for an upgrade to my current Benq W1000 for 3 or 4 months now. It's a stressful process of elimination trying to find what fits one's budget and taste. On firing the unit up, I find it imperative to set the projector not to search for an incoming signal. Set the unit to lock on one input, so it doesn't spend 30 seconds looking for a signal.I've spent the last few months viewing the units I could find in my area. Having seen Sony's VW60 and VW70s I've found the image quality great! My only problem was brightness. Neither would light up my 120 inch screen with a few lights turned on. I've also seen the Epson 8350 and 9350..basically the same projector. The 9350 cost is much closer in cost to the SP8602. Other than cost..these units have NOTHING in common. The level of clarity and depth the 8602 provides is on a much higher level.…

Black reproduction is the key to stunning home theater and the HC5500 LCD projector brings more life to your screen with faster transitions between light and dark scenes and sharper overall details in dark areas. And a 1.2x powered zoom and focus lens lets you enjoy the big screen even in smaller spaces. Better Blacks Make A Better HD Projector:The HC5500 projector combines new features for faster sharper blacks the brightest whites and all the colors in between with amazing 15000:1 contrast. New LCD Projector Technology:The HC5500 HD projector is built with an advanced inorganic LCD panel and improved liquid crystal panel cooling efficiency. The result is an LCD panel that not only projects the sharpest images but is rated to last ten times as long as conventional organic LCD panels.
I did a lot of research before buying this PJ, the deciding factors for me were the Hollywood FX upscaling chip and the noise levels that are the lowest in the industry. The upscaling chip helps upscale any lower resolution image to 1080p and does it handsomely. We will not be watching blu-ray movies all the time and this was an important factor for me.As far as the noise levels are concerned, I have heard projectors that emit a low (or sometimes even high!) pitched whine while running, and once you know about the noise it can become very distracting. This PJ on the other is practically noiseless, you cannot hear it while it is running even if you put your ear right next to it.Picture quality is outstanding with none of the "flicker" normally associated with fast moving objects with LCD projectors. I watch action movies and have not seen any "flicker" at all.It does need a reasonably light controlled room as it is not as bright as an Optoma HD71 for example, especially at the "low" lamp setting, but on the other hand the "low" lamp setting is supposed to give you 5000 hours of usage.Buy it, you cannot go wrong.

Convenient and affordable, this Epson V11H373120 PowerLite 8350 Projector enhances your entertainment experience — presenting movies, sports and videogames like you've never seen them before. A solid lineup of Epson technology makes it possible. The cast includes Epson's D7 chip and a superb contrast ratio of up to 50,000:1, for sharp, distinctive details. And, those details shine bright, day or night, thanks to 2000 lumens of color and white light output. C2Fine™ 12-bit technology, 3LCD, 3-chip technology, an Epson exclusive cinema filter and a state-of-the-art Fujinon™ lens to generate a full spectrum of spectacular, true-to-life colors.
I snatched up this projector as soon as I could after it was introduced (October 2010). I felt confident buying a brand new product because this projector is an evolution of the highly regarded 8100 from last year. The 8100 brought 1080P resolution to the mainstream of the home projector market. For the same price or lower, the 8350 improves upon the 8100 in several areas. First, it has inorganic rather than organic LCD panels. This feature suddenly became important to me when my six year old Sanyo PLV-Z2's blue panel gave out. I found out that (eventual) blue panel failure is a common problem with the old Sanyo's organic panels. Inorganic panels are more stable and heat-resistant. In addition to the inorganic panels, the 8350 is brighter than the 8100 and it has a higher contrast ratio (black/white).Since most people (including me) won't be comparing projectors side-by-side, I'll tell you what's likely to be important to somebody considering a home theater projector purchase. Placement flexibility is very important to home projector buyers on a budget. If you have to pay someone to do a ceiling installation, you can pay half this projector's list price just for the installation. The Epson 8350 has a long 2.1 power zoom lens and vertical and horizontal lens shift. What this means is that you can likely put the projector on a bookcase shelf at the side of a room 10-15 feet away from your projection wall or screen and skip any formal installation whatsoever. The second important…

The PowerLite Home Cinema 5010 brings the power of 3D right to your living room with Bright 3D Drive technology and full HD, 1080p performance. Immerse yourself in eye-popping 3D adventures, 2400 lumens color and white light output1 and an astounding contrast ratio up to 200,000:1. This state-of-the-art performer also features a built-in cinema filter and Fujinon® lens, for movie viewing the way filmmakers intended. This high-value home theater projector also features great 2D performance as well as 2D-to-3D conversion. It's never been easier to entertain family and friends with a true-to-life cinematic experience.
This projector has an excellent feature set:(Lens shift, motorized pixel alignment that can be adjusted in the menu, Automatic lens cap, affordable replacement lamp etc.)Image quality is top-notch in both 3D and 2D mode. Black level is unbelievably good, as good as many DLPs! Cross talk is almost non-existent. In movie viewing I couldn't find any cross talk. To measure the cross talk I had to manually feed in super-high contrast test-images (full black vertical bar on full white background and full white vertical bar on full black background) to see cross-talk, keep in mind with that kind of test image, even DLP and RealD cinemas will show cross-talk. Brightness in 3D is sufficient, which is an astounding achievement at this price level. Brightness in 2D is excellent, they rate it at 2400lumen and it does feel 3x as bright as my 1000lumen old projector (subjective estimate, not a scientific measurement). After viewing a few movies I was really impressed with the color and contrast. Coupled with the Panasonic Bluray BDT210, the projector automatically enables 12-bit deep color, rendering an image that reminds me of my slide film projector, an achievement previously thought to be almost impossible by many film photographers like me.For movie viewing, this projector is PERFECT! I would recommend it without any reservations. The only possible minor flaw of this projector is its delay (~0.08 Second according to some forum posts) which may affect some action games, but that doesn't affect…

Very well thought out product with a wide, bright, crisp image perfectly matched to my widescreen notebook. My use is for business presentations on the fly. Love using the remote control to advance slides so I can stay in front of the intended audience and not be tapping computer keys. Reasonably compact with a handy case. Pop it on a conf table next to notebook, hook up VGA and USB (allows remote control) from notebook and fire it up. Intuitive. Used in rooms with windows with mini-blinds without difficulty. I don't use a screen, just the nearest wall.I saw a review about overheating and have not seen that problem so maybe fixed in newer firmware? Tried turning off and fired it right back up without difficulty (maybe my room was cooler??). Short throw is extremely handy. This is my 3rd projector and it fits my needs very, very well.

The Sony VPL-HW15 BRAVIA SXRD 1080p Home Theater Projector delivers an immersive cinematic experience and Full HD 1080p resolution at a great value. Three SXRD micro-display panels work with a specially developed ARC-F (All Range Crisp Focus) lens and BRAVIA Engine 2 digital video processor to display stunning, life-like images on a scale no flat panel HDTV can match. A 200W lamp provides startling brightness for enhanced performance in rooms with ambient light from lamps or windows, and Advanced Iris 3 technology delivers high contrast of up to 60,000:11 by automatically optimizing picture brightness on a scene-by-scene basis.
I've had a projection setup for several years now, and this is my 4th projector. So while I'm not a real video expert, I've gotten enough experience to have a pretty good take - and this Sony VPL-HW15 is a pretty sweet unit. I've long been a fan of LCOS technology (SXRD as Sony calls it), but until very recently it was out of my budget range. Past projectors have been DLP models, starting with a couple of NEC business presentation units (rainbow city!) and then an Optoma HD80, one of first affordable 1080p models. The HD80 ran into problems recently so I decided to upgrade. This time, I was actually able to compare units using the 3 major projection technologies in my home: LCD, DLP, and LCOS. The LCD unit was an Epson Home Cinema 8100 - not in the same price range, so not a fair comparison, and it did not fare well. The Benq W6000 was a much better unit overall, and very bright, but that brightness and a slower color wheel led to seeing a lot more color fringing, or rainbows, which I seem to be fairly sensitive to. So I tried the Sony, and found a winner. It just has what I find a very "relaxing" picture - it may not be the absolute best at any one thing but it's very close on everything, and just a very pleasing image to watch. Color out of the box is very good. Black levels may be a tiny bit off the best in class, but not far. It's bright enough on my 100" screen in Dynamic mode that sports are easily watchable with light in the room. One feature I really appreciate…

Thje Optoma HD80 is a true 1080p DLP home theater projector with studio-grade resolution and best all-around high-quality display experience for home theater enthusiasts. The HD80 delivers higher brightness and provides truer more vibrant colors to the projected picture, and features BrilliantColor, Texas Instruments' color processing technology. With an amazing 10,000:1 contrast ratio, the Optoma HD80 delivers great color saturation and subtle color details for the best image quality.
I bought this projector to replace my Optoma HD70. I have a room in my house as a designated theater with the screen, chairs, sound, lighting..you name it. I thought this would be an easy install. I was so wrong! Here is the problem...Unless you have the space to mount the projector around 2 feet above or two feet below the top/bottom of the screen, this projector is totally useless! You can't mount it at screen height or even just slightly above/below. To read about this, go to the "projectorreviews" website. I wish I had read this ahead of time. I figured that since the throw ratio was correct for my room, I was all set. Not so...Optoma seems to have made an excellent projector for the price based on image quality, color and inputs. But, don't make my mistake, do your research and make sure you have the clearances in your room to install this projector in the few places that it can be placed. As a side note (no pun intended), you need to be dead on straight with the screen because there is no horizontal keystoning at all. This wasn't a problem for me, but it will be for some people. In the end, I would say this: The projector seems very good for the money, but since 75% of the potential buyers for this product will be sliced away because of placement issues, I would stay away from this one. If for no other reason than you may not be able to resell it after you want to upgrade. Remember, placement will be a problem then too! There are many other projectors that do not…

The PJD5523w is an advanced DLP projector which includes Brilliant Color technology to produce more vibrant colors, while the high brightness and contrast ratios make this projector shine in virtually any lighting situation.
After having problems with and returning a different manufacturers projector I bit the bullet and spent a little more on this projector. It was worth it. Crisp colours, easy use and a high quality picture make this perfect for movie night. I can even project a movie straight onto the wallpaper (cream coloured) and it still looks great! Definitely recommended!!Also, I have to thank Amazon in this case who bent over backwards to sort out a few problems with the return of the other projector and purchase of this one. For customer service, Amazon gets 5 stars too!

First a quick background. I am not a videophile and am new to PJ world and dont have any biases for/against LCD or DLP. I am a huge 3D enthusiast and bought a latest model of a 65" Panasonic plasma 3DTV for 2K, only to be disappointed with terrible crosstalk. I also realized that you need the biggest screen size possible for truly enjoying 3D. The only other TV thats bigger than 65" was the 82" Mitsubishi DLPTV but I hated it when I saw at Frys as the image was blurry, washed out and dim. That's when I realized that I should be looking at the world of Projector's as they offer the largest screen size for a fraction of TV cost. First thing I did is to buy an inexpensive FAVI screen of size 120" which is the largest i can fit in my apartment ! I would have gone for 140" if I had the space !!! Once and for all I can put my mind at ease as I don't need to think about screen size anymore !My search eventually lead me to the latest DLP 1080p 3D Optoma HD33 which I owned for a few weeks and was very impressed with stunning cross-talk free 3D on my 120" screen. However I eventually returned it as it had some issues (such as settings getting erased, loud noise when changing from 3D to 2D, missing menu items in the C0 firmware that cant be upgraded via USB so one has to send it to Optoma, some users complaining that their remote doesn't work and only way to shut down the PJ is to pull the power cord...not good for bulb life) and I read bad reviews about Optoma's…

The Panasonic PT-AE4000 is Panasonic's upgrade to the popular PT-AE3000U. It surpasses the Panasonic PTAE3000 in image quality, and has more features as well. The pure contrast plate in the PT-AE4000 uses an engineered crystalline material that is carefully matched to the characteristics of the LCD panels to effectively correct the passage of light exiting the panels. This enables the projector to block unwanted light leakage and successfully increases the dynamic range. It works together with the dynamic iris to achieve an astounding contrast ratio of 100,000:1.
This is only the second video projector I have ever purchased since I built my home theater 17 years ago but I have to say that it is an amazing product. I am certain that any purchaser will be extremely pleased with it. I am!I own a SharpVision XV-S250ZU Video Projector which I purchased in 1992. It was "state-of-the-art" in its day but, over time, its the LCD panels (organic) have deteriorated. (Still, 17 years is not a bad run!)Knowing that I would want to replace the SharpVision, I began doing research on projectors, starting in 2007. I quickly eliminated single-chip DLP projectors as, having seen quite a few of them, I have found that both my wife and I are unusually sensitive to the "rainbow" effect noticeable with this kind of projector. We primarily watch older black-and-white movies and this "rainbow" effect is especially apparent with this type of programming.I also quickly eliminated 3-chip DLP projectors due to their frightfully high cost.Concentrating on 3-panel LCD projectors, I got down to two models: the Epson Powerlite V11H337020 Home Cinema 8500 LCD Home Theater Projector and this one, the Panasonic PT AE4000U - LCD projector - 1600 ANSI lumens - 1920 x 1080 - widescreen - High Definition 1080p. Both of these use inorganic panels and so should last even longer than my SharpVision. The choice was difficult - I had no opportunity to see either "in the flesh" but, from what I have read (and I have read quite a bit), it seemed…

The Panasonic AE7000 sports Panasonic's new super hi-speed LCD engine, with an incredible refresh rate of 480Hz. This is double the refresh rate of the current next fastest imaging technology. With 2000 lumens and beautiful color output in both 2D and 3D, the AE7000 gives a perfect image for optimum home theater enjoyment. This is a perfect projector for the price, for any videophile who wants incredible image quality and crystal clear 3D performance.
Rather than a wall of text, I'll break it down into some pros and cons! I've owned this projector since November, 2011.For reference, my screen is a 100" diagonal, acoustically transparent, 1.0 gain screen. (Seymour Screen Excellence 4K, in case you're wondering). I sit about 11 feet from the screen, and the projector is above my head.Pros:1.) Extremely quiet. With the bulb in "Eco" mode, and just over a foot above my head, I can barely hear the projector's fan when there's no sound playing, and with any sound at all the projector is impossible to hear. In "Normal" bulb mode, it's still very quiet. I use mine in "Eco" mode 99% of the time, for what it's worth. And with 4000 bulb hours life in "Normal" mode, and a whopping 5000 in "Eco" mode, you'll be quite happy for a while.2.) My unit is pretty uniformly sharp from corner to corner. While I won't say this is guaranteed, it's definitely a good thing, or at least - it's possible with this projector.3.) 3 HDMI inputs - a lot of the competition (JVC RS-45/X30, Epson 5010 etc) only has 2.4.) Excellent for gaming. Not only does the PT-AE7000U sport a "Game" picture mode where all lag-inducing processing is dumped out the window, it also has a "Fast Frame" response for even quicker response times. Call of Duty etc is easily playable on this projector with no complaints. The benchmark for any gaming display, though, in my humble opinion, is passing the "Hot…

Full HD D-ILA front projector with 25,000:1 native contrast ratio, three D-ILA devices, 2x motorized zoom lens with motorized focus, HQV Reon-VX video processor, on-screen gamma control, flexible set-up and more
Had a B stock projector with 1 hour lamp on it. Very impressed with this VP. I work as an AV technician and i am a big movie fan. I deal with projectors a lot more expensive than that one for work so...I am quite mental when it comes to picture adjustment. Play 1080p movies @ 24 fps from an old NMT POPCORN A100 using HDMI, no frame drop. Had analog, plasma, LCD, LED tv before, and was getting more and more disappointed by the poor black level of the new technologies. The H250 did NOT disappointed me. Well adjusted the picture is spot on, really blasting. I am projecting on a 4.5m diagonal 2.35 ratio screen (a plain white wall) and finally almost meet the black level from old analog tv, with the sharpness of the HD generation media. I sit next to it and barely hear it. This heavy fat baby came almost perfectly tune out of the box... amazing. At home i use a grey bars scale picture to caliber the JVC, this is all you need really. It takes about several tries to have all the grey shade pure grey, using only your eyes. I agree this is the poor man method, but it works. Will recommend it over and over.

I've owned 2 other projectors prior to the BENQ W6000: a $10,000 SharpVision (14 yrs ago) and a $7,000 Optoma HD81-LV. Here are my impressions of the BenQ W6000 based on my experience with those 2 projectors:This is my room dimensions: 16ft Length x 15ft Width x 15ft Height. The BenQ is sitting at the bottom of the screen level & a little over 14ft away from the screen.1) Brightness - The BenQ is extremely bright - even in ECONOMY LAMB MODE with all the picture adjustments/calibrations recommended by Projectorreviews.com for Cinema Mode w/ Brillian Color turned OFF! I could not believe how bright this thing is!2) Colors - using the same settings recommended by projectorreviews for Cinema mode & brilliant color turned off, the colors look fantastic.3) Black levels - using the recommended settings, black levels look very good. I even turn Dynamic Iris/Dynamic Black completely off, and the black levels still look very good. I'm sure it won't be as good as a $10,000 projector, but it is still very good - very nice looking blacks.4) Sharpness - you can't beat the sharpness. Even a $12,000 JVC projector cannot come close to being as sharp as this projector. It is as sharp as the Optoma.5) Overall Image quality - great looking picture. I'm very happy with it.Conclusion - I highly recommend this projector.
